- Raised itchy welts

- Swelling of the lips or eyelids
- Burning or stinging of the skin
- Symptoms recurring for more than six weeks

Should you see a specialist?
Seek evaluation if hives recur for more than six weeks, if antihistamines at standard doses are not controlling them, or if they interfere with sleep or work. Seek emergency care immediately for swelling of the tongue or throat, or hives with difficulty breathing.
